Singapore – Fab Mini-Break With A Preschooler

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won.” – Dr. Seuss

Singapore has been a total lifesaver during our second year in Manila. It is clean, easy to navigate, fabulous food and full of wonderful activities for children including a number of free or inexpensive water parks (which our daughter loves!)

We travelled to Singapore at least four times in 2014 and each time was a really good break from life in Manila. The only downside of Singapore is the heat and humidity, but with all the water parks, swimming pools, and indoor activities, the heat is completely manageable.  But if you want to avoid excessive heat, travel to Singapore late in the year as breezes cool the afternoon heat down. (Note, though, that there is a higher chance of rain as December signals the start of one of the monsoon seasons.)

Key highlights are the Gardens by the Bay, hawker centers, Sentosa Island, the Singapore Zoo, open spaces and the harbour, shopping mall water parks, a vast selection of accomodation options, and easy public transportation. And you can drink the tap water!!

While we are not locals, we have gotten to know Singapore quite well and have even shown some of our friends who live there new places to bring their little ones.  Hopefully, you will get a chance to explore this diverse and fabulous city with your wee ones and show them diverse cultures and good food in a clean, safe environment with child friendly activities to keep everyone happy.
